Loft conversions remain one of the popular ways to add extra space to your home.  But how do you know if your loft is suitable and what can you do with it if it is?

Ideally, a loft needs to be 2.2 metres high at the middle point.  If it is lower than this, it could be an issue but there is no minimum height in building regulations – it is just that it could be hard work to use the space.  You need to be able to add access and a staircase as well.  If you don’t have the room, you may be able to lower to ceiling on the rooms below to gain it.
