Loft Conversions Stirling
Decal Scotland Ltd provide loft conversion services to clients in Stirling.
Loft conversions remain one of the popular ways to add extra space to your home. But how do you know if your loft is suitable and what can you do with it if it is?
Ideally, a loft needs to be 2.2 metres high at the middle point. If it is lower than this, it could be an issue but there is no minimum height in building regulations – it is just that it could be hard work to use the space. You need to be able to add access and a staircase as well. If you don’t have the room, you may be able to lower to ceiling on the rooms below to gain it.
You also want to look at obstructions to the work. Is there a water tank in the loft? Does the chimney stack take up loads of room? Is the roof very steep and adding roof windows could be tricky? An expert in loft conversions can help guide you through these problems.
Once you know the loft is suitable, there are lots of things you can do with it. For starters, you could create an extra living room space with a sofa and chairs and a TV. This is a great spot to watch movies together and relax.
If the loft is big enough, you can make it into the new master bedroom and even add an en-suite bathroom. This means you free up space on the second floor and get a room that is a little out of the way from the rest of the house.
