House Extensions Bothwell
Decal Scotland limited provides a home extension service to customers across Bothwell.
One of the most common reasons that people say they haven’t considered house extensions is that they think they need complicated and expensive planning permission to undertake the work. But under Permitted Development, the government has allowed people to do quite a lot of work without the need for planning permission, as long as you stick to certain rules.
For example, you can add a single storey extension that is up to 8 metres to the rear of a detached property or up to three metres for a double storey extension. Extensions must be less than four metres at the ridge and eaves or below the height of the house and two storey extensions can’t be closer than seven metres to the rear boundary. You can only use up to 50% of the garden space for the extension.
When you work with an expert in building extensions, they will be able to work through these rules with you based on what you want to do and make sure you can fit in with them. And if you can’t, then there is always the option to get planning permission and see if you can do what you dreamed about – it will just take a little longer!
