As spring comes around, the urge to get outside grabs many of us. It is a great time to do some work in the garden, but it is also an ideal time to do some work on your home. Here are our top spring building maintenance tips to help you with your jobs list.
If you are able to get up the ladders, spring is the best time to check two things – the condition of your roof and how clean your guttering is. Over the winter, debris often builds up in the gutters from trees and shrubs and this can block them or even cause them to pull away from the roofline. Spring is a great time to clean they out and if you aren’t up for the job, it is a good idea to get property maintenance experts in to handle it for you.
It is also a good time to start clearing away rubbish that has built up around the house. This can often block drains and cause problems with downpipes, so it is a good idea to clear it away. Watch out for signs of cracks in paths or walls that might indicate frost damage over the winter.
Spring is also a good time to check areas such as patios and decking to see if they are showing signs of damage. Look to make repairs so they are strong and ready for more frequent use as the weather warms up.
