Health Benefits of a Sunroom
Sunrooms are a great way to add space to your home but are about more than just somewhere nice to sit on an evening or an extra room for the kids to play. The design of a sunroom with its combination of conservatory and brick extension actually has some proven health benefits.
Top of the list is the fact it can lower blood pressure by exposing skin to sunlight, according to a study from the Universities of Southampton and Edinburgh. UVA rays are the type of light that come through sunroom windows and helps to lower blood pressure which in turn reduces the risk of heart attack or stroke.
Another benefit that comes from those UV rays is that it can boost your immune system and make your body stronger and more able to cope with illness or infection. That’s because sunlight helps with vitamin D production and this boosts the T-cells that the body uses to fight infection.
Perhaps the simplest benefit of a sunroom is that it improves mood. UV light is proven to stimulate a series of hormones that make us feel better including serotonin. By having a room in the house with a high amount of sunlight, you can get all of the benefits of UV exposure while still being comfortable and also having a room that is practical too.
